ALTOS Kids

ALTOS Kids is a program to introduce your kids to the sport of orienteering. Here is what you should expect if your child plans to participate in our kids course.

  1. Guided Map Hike: Our kids stick together in a group during the entire duration of this course. DUE TO COVID, WE WILL NOT HAVE GUIDED HIKES, HOWEVER, WE WILL ALLOW ADULTS TO WALK WITH THEIR KIDS ON THIS SHORT EASY COURSE

  2. Learning: We strive to have enough guides on this course so that we can teach each child along the way. We will show them basic compass usage and talk about the map and map features along our hike. We may pickup a few sticks and rocks or other fund objects found in the forest along the way…

  3. Short Course: This is a short course that even the smallest of kids could complete.

  4. Age Limits: There are not age limits, but if your child is 4 or under, a parent or legal guardian should accompany them.

  5. Bring: Each participant will only need a compass, small water bottle, and good pair of running shoes to hike in.

  6. Pre-register: This lets us know you are coming and ensures you get a map. You can pre-register here.
